Medway Rapture – Gaming and Creative Festival

Medway is set to host the most unique gaming festival the UK has ever seen, in July 2021.

Gaming fans will be reunited once again at what could be the first large gaming festival since the COVID-19 pandemic.

In line with the government’s new announcement on the roadmap of social distancing restrictions easing and vaccine rollouts across the country, and as stated in our last announcement – thanks to the great partnership between Medway Council, Historic Dockyard Chatham and Fragers, we are now able to offer a new and exciting date for the festival of the 3rd and 4th July.

However, visitor, exhibitor and staff safety will always remain our top priority, and so there are a range of additional changes that we are making to ensure that the festival can happen in 2021 including a focus on Covid-19 safe content in spaces safe for all.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham is an incredibly unique setting for this show. The vast open halls at the Slips and the Smithery Courtyard, along with all of the buildings we will be using, allow us to put on large features while easily socially distancing with constant fresh air, just as if it was an outside event. Of course Medway Council’s commitment to fund the festival continues as well.

With the move to the summer, we will be focusing on using more of the open air spaces and shifting content towards a blend of outdoor and indoor activities.

Of course, no one can fully predict the path of this pandemic, but as a uniquely placed festival with the support of all parties involved, we can continue to be flexible should restrictions remain in place.

In the year Medway is bidding to become the UK City of Culture 2025, we are keen to showcase Medway’s rich heritage and great future at this event!
