Medway has a significant cultural offer, and the title of City of Culture for our community will engender greater self-belief, allow a greater appreciation of Medway’s unique offer amongst residents and visitors, realising our potential for the future.
Apply for this exciting role to lead Medway’s bid for 2025 and create a legacy for the residents of Medway. You will be working with communities to enhance local pride and sense of belonging across Medway, exploring ways to improve diversity and inclusion and supporting both the social regeneration and social isolation agendas.
You will be engaging with young people, Medway’s future, to enhance Medway’s cultural and creative offer, raising creative ambitions and aspirations. You will be interacting closely with our Universities and College, together with our outstanding schools, enhancing cultural and creative skills for employment opportunities.
You will lead a small team, undertaking a rich programme of engagement, research and consultation, culminating in the formulation and promotion of Medway’s Bid through all the formal stages in 2021. You will report to the Place Board through a Bid Steering Group, ensuring full engagement with the Medway Cultural Partnership.
Medway’s bid will led by our people, and you will be working with a number of key stakeholders who have a passion and keen interest in Medway’s future, to produce a community-led bid that will take Medway to a new level, making it an even a better place to live, work, learn and visit.
You will have a strong understanding of Medway’s rich heritage and great future, as well as demonstrable experience of working with the cultural sector supporting the place-shaping agenda and improving the place-branding of a city.
You will have demonstrable experience of organising and coordinating engagement events, which will be a significant aspect of this role.
